The Level 5 units allow learners to progress in specific occupational areas. They will develop and enhance skills in effective partnership working, managing the care of vulnerable individuals, safeguarding, health education, team management, professional supervision practices, and completing a research project.

Entry Requirements
These qualifications are designed for learners typically aged 18 and above.
The entry profile for learners may include one or more of the following:
- A relevant Level 3 Diploma or an equivalent qualification
- GCE Advanced level in two subjects or an equivalent qualification
- Mature learners (over 21) with relevant management experience (learners should verify this experience with the delivery center before enrolling in the program)
English language requirements: Learners from non-majority English-speaking countries must provide evidence of English language proficiency.
Equivalences
OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma qualifications encompass practical knowledge, skills, capabilities, and competencies. Academically, they are equivalent to Higher National Diplomas (HND) and the second year of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree program.
Qualification Structure
The OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care Management consists of 12 mandatory units, totaling 240 credits. The qualification requires 2400 hours of Total Qualification Time (TQT) and a minimum of 1200 Guided Learning Hours (GLH).
To achieve the OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care Management, learners must complete a total of 240 credits, with 120 credits at Level 4 (6 units) and 120 credits at Level 5 (6 units).

Duration and Delivery
The qualification is structured to be completed over two academic years for full-time students, but it also offers flexibility for part-time and distance learning.
It is delivered through a combination of face-to-face lectures, tutorials, seminars, and online distance learning, exclusively by approved centers.
Assessment and Verification
All units within this qualification are assessed internally by the center and externally verified by OTHM. The qualifications are criterion-referenced, based on the achievement of all specified learning outcomes.
To pass a unit, learners must provide evidence demonstrating that they have met all the learning outcomes and standards specified by the assessment criteria. The Assessor determines whether learners have successfully met the assessment criteria.
Progression
Successfully completing the OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care Management opens up numerous academic progression opportunities for learners, including advancing to the OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Health and Social Care Management.
Since this qualification is approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation), learners are also eligible for direct entry into the third year of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree program.
